At this point, it should be clear that Jeremih can write a hit in his sleep. Listening to any track from the Chicago songwriter, it's clear that music simply comes to easy to him, but it hasn't stopped him from outworking most of his peers. If you can write a great song in one take, why not make it five seems to be the singer's ethos, which has led him to be a prolific solo artist as well as collaborator while working up an enviable stash of songs. On "That," released on SoundCloud via producer ChaseTheMoney, who made the instrumental alongside Deddin, he maintains that effortless charisma, hovering in the space between singing and rapping that he's been exploring for years and the rest of rap is finally catching up with.
Earlier this year, Jeremih released the supremely underrated Chocolate Box EP, which found him collaborating largely with producer Hitmaka (FKA Yung Berg). Hitmaka is also producing the upcoming collaborative project between Jeremih and Ty Dolla $ign MihTy. As two of the most talented songwriters working right now, it's sure to be one of 2018's best releases.
Quotable Lyrics:
I thumb it, thumb it, papercuttin'
ChaseTheMoney, doin' numbers
Got Giovanche all on my back
I turn a brown bag into a sack
Most y'all don't know what to do with that
Hit a lick and don't know what to do with that
Your bitch, she know what she doin'
I heard she know what to do with that
