Black Atlass recently confided with us the many steps he took shed his bedroom pop image. Since joining The Weeknd's XO label, the singer has found it increasingly easy to navigate the demands of his profession. The personal connection is there, and a shared belief in "Canadianness" if you believe the paradox yourself.
On "Shadows," Atlass tries his best hand at protecting the people he holds dear to his broken heart, such acts of devotion can't be voiced without a trace of doubt. And so it goes, Atlass relieves himself of having to do paperwork, the abstinence of which allows the Montreal-born singer the creative reigns he so deserves.
Black Atlass learns to summon the right inhibitors on "Shadows," but when you consider his music on the whole, his concern is not with shaping his or your identity, but with finding gratification along the way. Check out our interview with Black Atlass where we learned where he drew inspiration for the darker tones on his album.

Yeah, sweep me down to my knees

Lovin' you is all I need
But I can't have it all
