When you first start watching Xavier Wulf's new music video for "Request Refused," it might seem like a stereotypical Memphis-style music video. The signs are all there: both Xavier and Tay Keith, the song's producer, are from Memphis, and Xavier spends the first half of the video driving around in a drop top and moving huge bags of kush.
Suddenly, night falls, and the music cuts out to a dark and dramatic interlude in which Xavier deftly avoids a plot to rob him of all his possessions and likely his life. When the music cuts back in, Xavier is posted up with his katana like an urban samurai.
