Kevin Durant will stick with Golden State.

As many keep their finger on the pulse of the whirlwind that is the free agency period in the NBA, new reports have surfaced that Kevin Durant has agreed to a deal that will keep him with the Golden State Warriors for a season or two.

While some talks have Kevin discussing a one-year deal with Golden State, most accounts have Durant singing a two-year deal to the tune of $61. 5 million with Golden State. A person close to the situation also adds that it comes with a player option for 2019-20, meaning that Durant could quite possibly flirt with free agency once again next summer.

If it all goes through by the deadline which is clocked at Friday, July 6th, it marks a terrific situation for Warriors management, who would get to keep their two-time Finals MVP, but also get some wiggle room with Durant taking $5 million less this season than he could have very well asked for. According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, Warriors General Manager Bob Myers repeatedly stated that Durant could have “whatever he wants” after the team earned its second consecutive title this season.

Durant’s return to the Warriors coincides with Paul George’s recent announcement of resigning with OKC while at a party at Russell Westbrooks’ home. The duo reportedly declared “we can bring it home” before the crowd that was gathered to confirm PG’s commitment to Oklahoma City despite initial assumptions that saw George returning to his hometown to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.
