There's no doubt that Spotify has a lot of competition in its field. Running up against Apple Music, Tidal and Google Play when it comes to high performing streaming services, there's a lot of functions, prices and playlist curations that make each platform differ.
Spotify's latest job openings prove that the company is looking to expand further on its options for users. Musically first reported on the new listings that saw Spotify searching for a 'Project Manager: Hardware Production & Engineering' and a 'Senior Project Manager: Hardware Production.' Spotify is searching for employees to produce its first "physical products” and build its “manufacturing, supply chain, sales and marketing” team for hardware.
The publication suggests that the streaming service is looking to build its first ever speaker system, with a voice function the same way Amazon has Alex and Apple has Siri.
This move is yet another trial for Spotify as we recently posted on the new app the company was testing out called Stations. The platform is strictly for playlists and creates personalized stations based on your listening history. Stations is currently being tested in Australia and only time will tell is it will make its way to North America.
