Amid all the criticism surrounding Kanye West’s most recent remarks, Saturday Night Live wasted no time in tackling the subject when Donald Glover hosted its latest iteration. It was in a skit that served as a parody of the recent horror film A Quiet Place that Glover and other SNL castmates took on Ye’s recent tweets.
In the original film characters risk losing their lives if they make a sound and in the sketch, dubbed a A Kanye Place, a group of individuals just couldn’t maintain their silence upon reading the rapper’s controversial tweets and his “Lift Yourself” track which features those questionable “poopy-di-scoop” lines.
At the end of the day, though, it looks like Kanye can take a joke or two as he soon took to Twitter to share the clip himself, underscored with some laughing and fire emojis.
All the while, though, not everyone is laughing at Kanye’s most recent comments especially after he made an appearance on TMZ Live and declared that slavery was a choice in specific reference to the African slave trade.
Notably, the likes of Janelle Monae, Stevie Wonder, Joe Budden, and Daz Dillinger among others have had a bone to pick with Kanye’s recent stream of consciousness.
On the topic of slavery, Kanye attempted to clarify his comments through Twitter.
“Of course I know that slaves did not get shackled and put on a boat by free will,” he wrote. “My point is for us to have stayed in that position even though the numbers were on our side means that we were mentally enslaved.”
