Stan Lee is the most recognizable comic book creator on the planet. Even before he was featured as a cameo in almost every Marvel movie, he was known around the world for bringing characters like Black Panther, Thor, and The Fantastic Four to life. Lee is getting up there in age, he's 95 years old, and so of course the transferal of his assets are on his mind. His daughter, Joan Celia Lee (nicknamed J.C.) was allegedly accused by Lee himself of attempting to seize control of his assets, but now, Stan is saying that is not the case.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lee signed documents that claimed his daughter and his good friend Keya Morgan were attempting to take control of his assets. The documents, which were acquired by THR, allegedly states, "It is not uncommon for J.C. to charge, in any given month, $20,000 to $40,000 on credit cards, sometimes more." J.C.'s spending habits are enabled by a trust that was set up for her, and in the documents, Lee claims that she has tried to force him to transfer properties into her name. THR continues on to claim that Lee is scared that his daughter "will become homeless and destitute" after his passing due to her spending habits, so he has chosen to safeguard his properties in an effort to take care of his family. Just a few days after THR came forth with those documents, which were allegedly signed by Lee, the comic book creator came to the defense of his daughter.
In a video filmed by Keya Morgan, Lee claims, "my relationship with my daughter has never been better, and my friend Keya Morgan and I also have a great relationship … anybody who is saying anything [else] … is just spreading lies." Lee suffers from an eye disease that has left his almost blind, and his former lawyer Tom Lallas prepared the documents for him to sign. Lallas told People, "I read the Declaration to Mr. Lee word for word, line by line, sentence by sentence, from beginning to end." He continued on to state, “After each paragraph, I asked Mr. Lee if the paragraph I had just read was accurate, or if he wanted any changes to be made."
Lallas has since been removed from the situation, and the entire battle has turned into a hearsay scandal. In the video of Lee, he goes on to say, “Anybody who is saying anything negative about us or about them suing me or me suing them is just spreading lies. And unfortunately, we seem to live in this environment where anybody can say a lie about anybody and it immediately gets published and it gets transmitted and millions of people read it, see it, and believe it."
