The internet came out in droves to denounce Fergie's decision to jazz up the National Anthem on Sunday, at NBA All-Star Weekend. Wiz Khalifa on the other hand decided to search for positive framework.
His positive spin described a phenomenon that was perhaps being witnessed with the naked eye. Wiz referred to Jimi Hendrix's Star Spangled Banner performance at Woodstock as a comparable, stressing that it too was ahead of its time in conception.
True to form, Fergie did not apologize for the rendition on principle. Instead she apologized to those who may not have liked it. I for one agree with Wiz that it was worth the gamble, but maybe the Jimi comparison is reach. Let the late great sit in his chair.
