After releasing three pretty dope mixtapes so far in 2017, including Two Zero One Seven, Thot Breaker, & most recently, The W, Chief Keef has brought us all a fourth with Dedication. It's a project that has been teased for a little while now, in and around Keef's astonishing line-up of feature work as well, having appeared on albums from IDK, Lil Pump, Smokepurpp, Fredo Santana, and A$AP Mob. With the tape finally upon us, it will surely add to the Chicago native's growing reputation as one of the hardest working men in rap.
Chief Keef had already circulated two tracks off the album. First, there was his link-up with Lil Yachty titled "Come On Now". On paper, it's a curious twosome to be hearing on a record together, since the Boaty one has both feet planted firmly in the "bubblegum trap" realm, while Chief Keef's aggressive sound that has become synonymous with the city of Chicago, is anything but. Still, on a certain level, they make it work, giving a tasty preview to what might become a bit of a habit for Keef - stretching his creativity by including some peculiar choices as far as featured artists go.
As a follow-up, he offered the hip-hop community yet another pristine collab with "Glory Bridge," teaming with NYC wunderkid A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Far more intimidating than the Yachty single, Keef and A Boogie turn up against a well-chosen musical backdrop, complete with the ominous sounding of bells. It only adds to the atmosphere of an album that signals, if nothing else, that Chief Keef is playing around with this one, just as he has all year long.
Available now on iTunes, fans can stream the project in its entirety via Apple Music and other major streaming platforms. Give it a listen and let us know what you think! What's your favorite record?
