You may not be too familiar with the name Bobby Sessions just quite yet, but it won’t be too long till you are. The rising Dallas rapper broke out onto the scene earlier this year with songs like “Like Me” & “Pick A Side,” while attracting the attention of Def Jam who quickly signed him to a deal. Now looking to kick off the next chapter in what will inevitably be a long career, Bobby decides to come through today and share a new socially-conscious EP called RVLTN (Chapter 1): The Divided States of AmeriKKKa.
Laced with 9 tracks, the follow up to last year’s Grateful album features guest appearances from ZYAH (twice) and Killer Mike, the latter of which who appears on the song “Black Neighborhood.”
“My RVLTN EP series is about taking the politically incorrect conversations from the barbershop and expressing them through music. The Divided States Of AmeriKKKa highlights the root of race issues in this country. It addresses white supremacy, systematic oppression, as well as introspective realizations about the responsibility of becoming a leader. RVLTN will continue to unfold and evolve throughout upcoming chapters in my quest for viable solutions, black empowerment, and justice. This only the beginning.”
Out now on iTunes, fans can stream the politically charged project in its entirety (below). Hit play and let us know what you think. Learn more about Bobby right here.
