For the first time in nearly a decade, the folks over at General Mills have updated their legendary Lucky Charms cereal to include a new edible delight, the "Magical Unicorn." This addition will join the cereal's roster of mainstays including the heart, rainbow, horseshoe and others, effectively replacing the hourglass marshmallow in the process.
The unicorn will soon be available in cereal boxes nationwide, and will become a permanent fixture in the Lucky Charms universe. The company had asked customers over Twitter to provide some suggestions for a new marshmallow using only emojis, with the unicorn option sweeping the ballots across the board.
Josh DeWitt, the marketing manager for the cereal, reveals that "they spoke, and after hearing their love for the magical unicorn, we listened."
Fans of Lucky Charms seem to be ecstatic over this announcement, taking to Twitter to express their overzealous excitement.

In recent years, General Mills has taken some strides to excite customers in new ways about their products. In 2017, the company gave away 10,000 boxes of cereal containing only the marshmallows from Lucky Charms, which is a fantasy fulfillment for many sweet-toothed individuals. Similarly, General Mills also released a sugary combustion no one saw coming, by adding the aforementioned marshmallows to a box of Frosted Flakes, combining two of the company's most beloved products.
