According to the Independent, Al-Qaeda sent a warning to Saudi Arabia's crown prince Mohammad bin Salman. The Jihadist group feels as though Salman's new regime has bastardized the foundation laid by his predecessors. Al-Qaeda has identified a list of "sinful projects" which they feel embody Western Degradation, one of which is WWE wrestling. It so happens that WWE staged a Royal Rumble-type event in the Saudi Arabian City of Jeddah last April. The landmark moment was taken in by an astounding 60,000 fans at the Kind Abdullah Stadium. WWE legends such The Undertaker, Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and Mark Henry took part in the lfixed event.
"The new era of (Mohammad bin Salman) replaced mosques with movie theatres," said the Yemen-Based faction of Al-Qaeda (AQAP) in a published statement. "Disbelieving wrestlers exposed their privates and on most of them was the sign of the cross, in front of a mixed gathering of young Muslim men and women. The corruptors did not stop at that, for every night musical concerts are being announced, as well as movies and circus shows."
The AQAP is currently embroiled in a conflict with the Saudi Military who form one of many opposing forces in the Yemeni Civil War. The group condemned the Prince's solicitation of WWE programming, as well as his decision to allow public screenings and concerts in close proximity. Even though the AQAP is ostensibly triggered by spandex, we shouldn't let elements of humor cloud our judgement. The real bone Al-Qaeda is picking with the Saudi Kingdom is the double standard they crossed when they let foreigners break their civil code.
