The legacy of Birdman and the Cash Money empire was finally made into a documentary and released over the weekend. The label's CEO finally released "Before Anythang: The Cash Money Story." The documentary recaps Birdman's beginnings in the rap game and how he built an empire out of nothing. Birdman recently hit up Ebro's Beats1 show where he chopped it up about his documentary, his business game and of course, Lil Wayne.
Birdman spoke to Ebro about his new documentary on Apple Music and of course, the conversation about Lil Wayne came up. He said that after meeting him very young, he didn't want to him to follow in the path he was in but instead, trying to get them in school and keep them on a better life journey.
"His parents went to school with my brother and sister." He told Ebro, "I met him through another guy named Lil Slim. But when he was young his momma didn't want him around me... Love her to death, she didn't want Wayne around me because she knew how I was living. So I understood that but he just kept coming. He wanted it, he wanted the life. And I just wanted to help him because I didn't want him to live my life."
He later explained that the new documentary won't necessarily shed any light on his current standings with Weezy but it will give better insight to who Birdman is. However, there will be a part two coming in August.
In addition, he also addressed some of his business practices. Ebro asked Birdman how many people under his wing are actually being taken care of, considering the issues he has with Lil Wayne and Tyga as well. Birdman dismissed it by saying that all of his artists are on Forbes.
"Ebro, what I'm saying. Look at Forbes. All my artists are on Forbes." He said, "Me and my son have our differences and that shit gonna iron itself out but still, I gave that man $100 million contract. One wire, press send. I was happy as fuck to be able to do that for Wayne."
