The hip-hop world was rocked by devastating news yesterday (January 20th), after rapper Fredo Santana was found dead at age 27. According to reports, he was in Los Angeles when he suffered a severe seizure that turned fatal, and was found on the floor of his West Coast pad by his girlfriend on Friday night. Many artists have already shared social media posts that remember the young rapper for this great skill and the potential he showed in the process, with one of the most touching tributes coming from Lil Uzi Vert.
The Philly native, who was supposedly good friends with Santana, shared a picture of his former contemporary on Twitter, captioning it with the following statement: "2 Real For This Bitch Ass World." The heartbroken nature of the tweet did not go unnoticed by Uzi's followers, who turned up in the reply section to show support for the grieving emcee. You can view the entire post below.
Are part of his Instagram Story, Lil Uzi Vert also made public an messaging interaction between he and Fredo, possibly the last one they had together before Santana's sudden death. Clearly this sad turn of events has hit Lil Uzi particularly hard. You can view that addition to his Story timeline, via a screencap below.
Despite his health issues that had, at times, forced him into the hospital, Santana was a rapper who had so much more to offer the scene. Fredo first started to get noticed in 2012, alongside Chicago peers Chief Keef, Lil Reese, and Lil Durk. He was one of the first emcees to popularize Drill, an influential form of street rap. He will be missed.
RIP Fredo Santana.
