Kweku Collins and Ajani Jones give us something to drive to.

Kweku Collins has given us a rare feel-good Chicago summer song. After Noname describing her "casket pretty" friends and Chance The Rapper making sure we associate heat with grief ("everybody dies in the summer/so pray to god for a little more spring"), it's refreshing to here a melancholy song about summer love and being "drunk and fucked up" that isn't solely a serenade to deaths on the South side (although there is a line about feeling like "a bullet from a gun" while sitting in the sun).

Collins comes through with a laid-back verse about the pleasures and disappointments of summer, summed up nicely by the line that is acutally sung by Ajani Jones, who features on the song (and also recently released his own project): "it's been hot, it's the summer, what you expect?"

Quotable Lyrics

Gracefully, I promise you gon' never wanna trade with me
I'm the only one with this faith in me
Summer come soon by the lake we be
with the spliff indeed you get lost in the ways of it
