Prodigy & Alchemist link up for an instrumental mixtape, to be sent to prison inmates in New York.

Prodigy and producer Alchemist are currently working together on a collaborative album for the masses, Albert Einstein, but the two also have a project in the works exclusively for prison inmates.

The rapper and producer are teaming up for a Send A Package release, which is a service that provides care packages for inmates in the New York state prison system. This project will be unique for inmates, and will consist of instrumentals, giving them the opportunity to lay their own rhymes down.

Prodigy said of the project, "I hated rhyming over other people's beats. I think this is a good thing that Send A Package is doing."

There is no official release for the project yet, but it is expected to arrive in the summer.

As we reported previously, Send A Package also signed a deal with Universal, which allows them to send classic rap albums in cassette tape-form to prison inmates.
