Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have taken valiant efforts to try and diversify their film projects, especially under their joint Pearl Street Films imprint. The two have implemented inclusion riders for their future projects, in order to showcase more varied narratives that focus on an eclectic mix of individuals.
Pearl Street Films' head of strategic outreach, Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni, took to Twitter to announce the news, writing ".@michaelb4jordan Thank you for always supporting broader representation in the industry. On behalf of Pearl Street Films, Matt Damon, @BenAffleck, Jennifer Todd, Drew Vinton, & I will be adopting the #InclusionRider for all of our projects moving forward."
Fanshen specifically mentions how Michael B. Jordan's pledge to work on diverse film sets has inspired the more inclusionary efforts of her company.
Since the outstanding commercial success of films such as Black Panther, alongside the critical adoration of projects such as Moonlight and The Big Sick, have proven that diversity in media is something that can yield rewarding and profitable results. The industry that has been notorious for systemic racism has finally taken steps to squashing it's shady history.
