Royce Da 5'9" gets some things off of his chest.

It comes as no surprise the people of Detroit weren't enthusiastic about Cardi B receiving the "Spirit Of Detroit" award. Actually, the fact that a Bronx native was the recipient of a Detroit award was confusing to most. Detroit staple Royce Da 5'9" was among those who took issue with Cardi B receiving such honor.

In an Instagram post, Royce Da 5'9" got heated about the city of Detroit giving Cardi B "the spirit of Detroit" award. He kicked off by saying the industry doesn't care for Detroit which is exactly why terms like "No Fly Zone" and "Detroit vs. Everybody" were created.

"Detroit, when y'all gon' cut it out with the goofy shit? When are we going to stop being so politically correct? This is not a politically correct business. This record industry does not care about Detroit. Where you think the 'No Fly Zone' came from? Where you think 'Detroit Vs. Everybody' came from?" he says, "If we don't put action behind those words, that's just letters on the shirt. Nothing more than letters on a shirt."

However, his rant isn't an attack on Cardi B in anyway. He even says he has love for her. He mentions there are other people in the city, including Kash Doll, who deserve the award for their contributions to the city. Kash Doll's previously described Cardi B's honor as "disrespectful."

Royce makes a valid point in his rant. He asks why Cardi should be a recipient when she hasn't even received the same honor in her hometown of New York City.

"I love Cardi B just like everybody else, but Cardi B don't know shit about the spirit of Detroit. She ain't even receive the Spirit of New York Award yet. What the fuck is we giving her an award for about the spirit of our city? I'm a Spirit of Detroit Award recipient, [but] that took the umph out of it for me. Give Kash Doll the goddamn award. Y'all gotta stop it man," he continues "We gotta start looking out for our own artists. That's the only way we gon' move as a city. When are y'all gonna see that?"
