The New York Knicks announced the hiring of former Memphis Grizzlies head coach and Heat assistant David Fizdale last night, which should positively impact the Knicks' ability to bring in free agents in the coming years. Fizdale has been described as a players' coach who is well respected around the league, and when he was unceremoniously fired by the Grizzlies, several NBA stars came to his defense.
Of course, the biggest name on the free agent market this Summer is none other than LeBron James, who Fizdale coached while in Miami. According to Marc Berman of the New York Post, the Knicks have a plan to open some salary cap space this Summer in the "unlikely event" that LeBron shows an inkling of interest in reuniting with Fizdale.
"After Thursday’s hiring of former Memphis head coach and Heat assistant David Fizdale, the Knicks are prepared to open salary-cap space this summer in the unlikely event they get an inkling LeBron James has some interest in coming to the Garden this summer, according to an NBA source."
Does anyone really expect LeBron James to sign with the New York Knicks as a free agent this Summer? Hell no.
