Free agent wide receiver Allen Robinson has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Chicago Bears, according to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. Robinson, one of the top offensive weapons in a not-so-great free agency class, is reportedly signing a three year deal with the Bears worth $42 million, including roughly $25M guaranteed.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Robinson spoke highly of Chicago and how they're a good fit for him during an appearance on Sirius XM's Mad Dog Sports Radio on Monday.
"For me, it's a lot of teams out there who not only have interest in me, but who I have interest in," Robinson said. "It comes down to some other variables as far as kind of narrowing that down. But from what I've heard about Chicago, it's an amazing city and football town."
The 24-year old wide receiver is coming off an ACL injury that he suffered in the Jacksonville Jaguars' season-opener. He had his best season by far in 2015, when he caught 80 passes for 1400 yards and 14 touchdowns which tied him for most in the NFL that season.
Robinson will now become the number one option for Chicago's 23-year old quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who threw for 2,193 yards and seven touchdowns in seven starts during his rookie season last year. The Bears finished the 2017 season with a 5-11 record and will have the eighth overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
