Kyrie: "The hoopla on Christmas, I don’t really get into that."

Kyrie Irving and the Boston Celtics will be in action as part of the NBA's annual slate of Christmas Day games, but the 4x All-Star says he doesn't buy into all of the "hoopla" that comes with playing on December 25th.

In fact, Irving says he doesn't "necessarily think of Christmas as a holiday."

Following the Celtics' 102-93 loss to the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden last night, Kyrie was asked how he felt about playing on Christmas Day, which is something that only a handful of teams get to do.

His response: “The hoopla on Christmas, I don’t really get into that. I don’t necessarily think of Christmas as a holiday,” Irving said. “Looking forward to playing in front of the fans on the 25th and playing against a high-level Washington team and going against great guys.”

Of course, this is coming from the guy who seems to believe the Earth is flat so it's a relatively mild take by Kyrie's standards.

As he mentioned while speaking with reporters, the Celtics will take on the Washington Wizards, in Boston, as one of the five marquee matchups on Christmas Day. That game is scheduled to tip at 5:30pm ET on ABC.
