Cardi B had a lot of hype to live up to with the release of her new single, "Bartier Cardi." The stripper-turned-rapper found herself amid a smash success with the unlikely "Bodak Yellow" (remember, she also released her big "Lick" remix featuring, at the time, soon-to-be-boyfriend Offset-- although on paper it seemed more likely to take off, it didn't, really). Cardi B is a force to be reckoned with in the current climate, and so everyone, fans and haters alike, were anticipating what this new single would sound like.
In true Cardi fashion, she drops more than a few lines paying homage to fiancee Offset, refers to herself in the third person, and kills the sinister synthline, so much so that 21 Savage might become an afterthought. Her flow is hardened and poignant, and she switches between a few. The song has received a mostly positive response online too, with all these factors playing apart. We scoured, and while there are some negative reactions to the record, they are few and far between in compared to the praise (even on HNHH!).
