Nicki Minaj has been recently campaigning for United States President Donald Trump and the Republican Party ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterm elections. It's led to some creepy compliments from Trump and a whole lot of backlash, but it might land her a big role.
Over the past week, multiple White House staffers and members of the current administration have suggested Nicki Minaj would make a great White House Press Secretary. As it turns out, the man in charge might just agree.
In a clip from an interview with Benny Johnson for The Benny Show, Johnson asked Trump if the Trinidadian superstar will be the one to take on the role following the short-lived term of Katie Zacharia. "That's a good idea. I think I'll have to think about that," he replied. "I'm going to think about that. How about you? You'd be pretty good, too."
The administration currently doesn't have a White House Press Secretary following the exits of Zacharia and Karoline Leavitt, who served from January 2025 to August of this year. It seems like Trump will wait until after the midterm elections to name a new permanent press secretary. If Nicki makes an impact, maybe she will be the one to join the White House team, a shocking notion many fans don't want to see.
Nicki Minaj's Trump Support
That's because Nicki Minaj's support of Donald Trump has been very controversial among not just the general public, but also her fanbase. While many Barbz continue to support her and call out how folks hyper-fixate on Minaj rather than other celebrity supporters, it hasn't made Nicki Minaj's political fights and oppositions any less divisive.
We will see if this turns out to be true, which would represent the wildest career pivot in rap in recent memory. Donald Trump is a big fan, and that appreciation goes both ways.
No matter what, conspiracies and theories around why Nicki is being so outspoken and supportive regarding the MAGA establishment haven't led to any explanations. She is doing this of her own volition, and the last person left to comment on a potential White House Press Secretary role is Nicki herself. We'll see if she gets the call, answers it, or decides to step away.
