Vogue Italia just unveiled their latest cover, and it features supermodel and social media stalwart Gigi Hadid. However, the image is not being celebrated for showcasing the eternal beauty of its covergirl, but is being dismissed for rendering her unrecognizable.
The image depicts Hadid with male model Justin Martin's arms wrapped around her, dressed in a graphic ensemble and toting a crown on her head. Upon sharing the photo on both Instagram and Twitter, the model has been criticized by the general public for being photographed sporting "blackface," as her skin tone has been significantly darkened.
Naturally, outraged Twitter users voiced their particularly scathing opinions about the image, pondering whether or not the famous model will apologize for the finished product.

However, some have come to Hadid's defence, noting how she is sporting an exaggerated tan, not "blackface."
