During a recent 4:44 tour stop, Vic Mensa chopped it up with us about what it's like to be on tour with Hov (and whether or not he actually watches Hov's set every single night). In the interview, which followed up a soundbite from Vic where he vehemently condemned pill-popping and activities of the sort, Vic revealed that most 4:44 tour nights, you can catch him recording live from his tour bus. It's become common these days that rappers take their studio on the road with them, whether built into a tour bus or deconstructed and re-constructed in each city, thus, this fact alone isn't super surprising. However, elsewhere in the interview, Vic reveals one of the opportunities that his mobile tour bus has afforded him: recording a mixtape to be hosted by DJ Drama.
The Roc Nation-signed MC had teased in October that a good ol' fashioned DJ Drama mixtape could be a reality, if the fans were into it. It seems the fans were feeling the idea. Speaking with us, Vic says, "I won't say the title yet, but we got a title man. I'm looking to do it at the top of 2018. I've been recording for it every day, I got a studio on the bus. The bus was out for a couple of days cause some things was broke with it, but I get the bus back tonight, so please believe I'll be recording for it tonight."
What about that Travis Barker "Rollin Like A Stoner" that fans might recall was first teased on Vic's Instagram page awhile back? That too, is confirmed and on the way-- like, tomorrow. "Yeah, I'ma put that out this week," he says (worth noting, we filmed this interview last week-- so stay patient). "I performed part of it in the show, so if you come to the show you'll hear it," he leaves us with.
