Reporter asks Cam his thoughts about Diddy buying the Panthers.

Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson announced his plans to sell the team earlier this week, just hours after he was accused of sexual and racial misconduct toward former Panthers employees.

The organization will not begin the sale process until the very last game is played, but Diddy has already announced that he's interested in becoming the new owner.

2x NBA champion Steph Curry, a North Carolina native, and free agent QBColin Kaepernick also expressed interest in teaming up with the hip-hop mogul to take over control of the Panthers franchise.

But what do the players think about the possibility of having Diddy as an owner? Panthers QB Cam Newton was asked that question during a press conference yesterday.

"I was just like everybody else. It was amusing," Newton said, (h/t Complex). "Obviously he’s a person that has a lot of influence in the culture and it was just cool. I didn’t know what to expect and I still don’t know what to expect. I feel like a lot of people, you don’t know whether they are serious or are they not serious. How is it going to play out? I don’t even know how you’re going to sell something of this magnitude. So I’m just going to stay in my lane and worry about throwing touchdowns on Sunday, and let the rest handle itself."

In regards to Diddy saying he would sign Colin Kaepernick if he were in control of the Panthers, Newton said,

"That’s cool. I’m cool with it. Whatever happens, happens."

"They say two things happen in competition, you either get better or get worse. I’m all for it. But as far as a person that I’ve always looked up to, Puff Daddy, Diddy, whatever you want to call him, for that even being mentioned, it’s pretty cool in itself."

Cam and the Panthers, 10-4, will take on the 4-10 Tampa Bay Bucs on Sunday at home, before closing out the season against the 9-4 Falcons in Atlanta.
