Marvel has made huge moves in terms of cinematic success since Iron Man was first released as a box office hit in 2008. To celebrate the movies upcoming 10-year anniversary, Vanity Fair has tapped other Marvel superheroes to cover the magazine's four-cover edition.
The feature focuses exclusively on the studio's president, Kevin Feige, touching base with the Hollywood executive on what's to come out of the Marvel vault. Black Panther is without a doubt leading the most excitement from fans and will be Marvel’s first superhero film with a black actor in the lead role.
Some key points Kevin mentions are the contracts that are ending for some leading stars in the studio's films. Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans will soon have no commitment to play their characters known as Iron Man, Black Widow and Captain America.
Kevin tells Vanity Fair that with major rolls coming to an end and the changes that will take place, Marvel will introduce "another 20 movies on the docket that are completely different from anything that’s come before — intentionally.” Disney C.E.O. Bob Iger confirms that Marvel has the rights to 7,000 characters that the studio plans on using. “We’re looking for worlds that are completely separate—geographically or in time—from the worlds that we’ve already visited,” Bob explains.
The studio is 22 movies in and now has 20 more on the rise with a good chunk of actors still lined up to deliver possible sequels - Antman, Thor, Spiderman, Guardians of the Galaxy and more.
