Joe Budden has added his voice to the growing chorus of those washing their hands of Kanye West. Yeezy's "slavery was a choice" rant has tested the patience of many a defender. Now, it appears to be open season on Kanye, with more and more personalities feeling emboldened to put the rapper on public blast. Joe goes in on Yeezy, calling him "self-centered, self-absorbed, self-obsessed, selfish - all the "selfs" except self-aware." While admittedly a solid ether, it's tough to see the once-respected Kanye becoming a punching bag.
Rory is particularly incensed (around the 2:30 mark), going on a passionate rant from the perspective of a betrayed Ye Stan. Joe opts to reflect with a more composed demeanor, despite feeling some type of way about Yeezy's recent antics. It's interesting to see so many rappers disavowing their loyalty to Kanye, including Chicago rappers G-Herbo and Famous Dex. Let it be known - disowning only means something if actions can back up words. If everyone professing to turn their back on Kanye still go listen to his album on day one, ya'll some hypocrites. I know the "hate listen" can be tempting, but stand by your word.
Only time will tell if all this Kanye hate will actually materialize into some tangible results. If his upcoming album goes on to break any streaming record, the truth will indeed come out. Where do you stand? For more of Joe's insight into the Kanye circus, peep the podcast in its entirety.
