Funkmaster Flex is no stranger to the public air-out. A few weeks back, Flex was "in his bag" and took to Instagram, where he proceeded to call out the names of those he perceived to be wack rappers. Evidently, his longtime sparring partner Lil Yachty was put on blast, as were Nicki Minaj, G-Eazy, and Lil Pump. While there doesn't currently appear to be any real bad blood, their history is tumultuous to say the least. Yet somehow, Yachty found himself on Flex's show, with the express purpose of delivering bars to the masses. Perhaps the recent drop of Lil Boat 2 left the king of the youth feeling emboldened, but you have to respect his willingness to step up.
After they exchange some semi-awkward laughter about their history of online shade, Flex explains that he found himself on the phone with Boat, and invited the Quality Control rapper to drop some bars. While Yachty has occasionally shown flourishes of lyrically greatness, ("Mase In '97") he's not exactly known as Black Thought 2.0. Yet Boat came through regardless, as he felt he had to at least try. "At least I can say I did it, whereas I would have been at home wishing I did it," says Boat, before the classic "Still Tippin" instrumental fills the air.
Yachty proceeds to drop off a solid two minute freestyle; while Flex didn't come with the same energy as he did during Royce Da 5'9"s recent session, it was still cool to see a younger rapper hold it down for the legendary DJ. Check out the full video below.
