This Sunday marked the airing of the 2018 iHeartRadio Music Awards as the biggest across multiple genres of music were celebrated for their contributions to the industry within the past year.
Notably, it was a momentous night for Cardi B, who walked away with two of her five nominations, earning a trophy for Best New Artist and for Best New Hip-Hop Artist following an electrifying opening performance of her smashes, including “Bartier Cardi” and the now-quintessential “Bodak Yellow.” She’d also take the opportunity to let us know just when her album was finally going to drop.
Audiences were further met with performances from the likes of Camila Cabello alongside Young Thug for the duo’s “Havana,” and a performance from Icon Award recipient Bon Jovi among others. Things would come to an end with Sean “Diddy” Combs and son Christian “King” Combs appearing onstage to present DJ Khaled with the show’s top prize for “Song of The Year,” awarded to his Rihanna and Bryson Tiller collab “Wild Thoughts” before officially closing out with a performance of “Lemon” by N*E*R*D.
Just as expected, the performance was a visually stunning presentation that found the group surrounded by dancers outfitted in two-piece outfits and plenty of glitter, all headed up by showstopper Mette Towley, whose dance routine has been stealing the spotlight anywhere N*E*R*D* is concerned as of late.
