Earlier this year, the Boston Celtics sent ripples throughout the sporting world when they traded their superstar PG Isaiah Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers. The trade came as a shock to Isaiah & many in the NBA after all that Thomas gave to the city of Boston, and now we can see his reaction to finding out that news. On Wednesday, The Players Tribune shared the latest segment in Isaiah’s on-going story, showing us the exact moment he was informed of the Cavaliers trade.
“That’s just crazy,” Thomas said in a Players’ Tribune video, emotional after Celtics general manager Danny Ainge broke the news that he’d been dealt for Kyrie Irving. “What are you talkin’ about? My kids are about to start school ... Off the strength, after everything I went through ... You’re not supposed to do that.”
“But it’s... I mean if that’s what he wants. Danny’s like that. I mean, I’m not trippin’. It’s just crazy they would do that. I’m not mad. I’d be mad if I went to a weakass team. We gon’ win the Finals anyway. The city is gonna be mad as fuck.”
In the video, Thomas is also seen FaceTiming with his sons to break the news to them. His youngest was upset about leaving the skate park in Boston and did not seem pleased about the move, while his oldest was thrilled his dad would be playing with the King LeBron James.
Check out the gut-wrenching footage (below) and look for Isaiah to return to the court as early as next week.
