For legal reasons, Young Thug had to change the name of his last mixtape from Carter 6 to Barter 6, but he's not done trying to carry on the legacy of Lil Wayne's Carter series (or besmirch it, depending on who you ask). In a new interview on No Days Off Radio, Thugger reveals that he'll be dropping a mixtape before his debut album, Hy!£UN35, arrives in August, and that mixtape will be called Tha Carter V.
“I’ma drop one more mixtape [before my album],” he said. “I’ll probably name it Tha Carter V, ’cause the original Carter V still ain’t came out yet. I don’t know what the fuck they doing. So I’ma put that motherfucker out for ’em.”
As Barter 6 was a commercial release, it might be easier for Thug to achieve this stunt on a free release, but you can bet that Weezy and his lawyers will try their hardest to stop him.
While in the interview, Thug also spoke on his label status:
“I manage myself. I’m signed with Atlantic. I have a big, special deal with Atlantic, and it’s only Atlantic. Birdman is my homie.”
