The Nigerian rising star known as WizKid, a vital part of Drake's record-setting hit "One Dance," has come through today with the official version of "Shabba," a track dedicated to the Jamaican dancehall legend Shabba Ranks. Aside from WizKid, the party-starting anthem features the all-star cast of Chris Brown, Trey Songz, French Montana, and Mike Will Made-It, who handles the production.
A different version of "Shabba" arrived yesterday on Chris Brown's SoundCloud. Neither Trey or French was on that one; instead, Wiz and Breezy were joined by Hoody Baby of Brown's OHB crew as well as the Section Boyz, a 6-member rap group from South London. WizKid maintains that today's version is the official "Shabba," which makes sense considering the track's A-team of collaborators. Both "Shabba" collabs are surefire club bangers, though the new one is probably the one that'll stick around all summer. Expect WizKid to continue to be a refreshing voice on more star-studded hip-hop tracks in the near future. His movement is just beginning to take shape here in the U.S.
