Will Smith appeared on ABC News Thursday morning to illuminate and support his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s statement on the lack of diversity in the Oscar nominations this year. He didn’t stump for his own interests (he was not nominated for “Concussion”), but rather spoke on where he thinks these ongoing cultural divisions are coming from.
He thinks, “diversity is the American superpower” but Hollywood is not correctly representing “this beautiful American gumbo.” So he feels that he needs to fight for those ideals of diversity, which is why he will be joining his wife on the couch this year rather than attend the event.
