The entire OVO Sound crew flew down from Toronto to Austin last night to crash the Fader Fort and put on a surprise label showcase. On the final night of SXSW, Fader's closing party featured performances by Jazz Cartier, Gallant, and Anderson. .Paak, before OVO came through and each of the label's acts took the stage, one by one.
It started with the first-ever performance from the elusive R&B singer dvsn., and then the order went: Roy Woods, Majid Jordan, and PartyNextDoor. That's a lot of Canadian talent, though it would've been an underwhelming event if the label bossman himself didn't show up, and finally, Drake came out to revive an exhausted crowd of festival attendees and gave them what they had been hoping for all night.
The 6 God performed 6 songs during his headlining set, thought no unreleased material off of Views from the 6. Well, actually only 5 songs, considering he dropped "Jumpman" twice, though it was worthy of a repeat, as Drake was joined by Metro Boomin during the second go-around. The other tracks were If You're Reading This It's Too Late's "Energy" and "Know Yourself," his Meek Mill diss -- "Back to Back," and his latest single, "Summer Sixteen."
