Wara From The NBHD is a young rapper who was born and raised in Brooklyn, but recently relocated to Atlanta. He rocks a grimy vibe to great effect, as evidenced by his new jam "Scrilla," taken from his upcoming project Kidnapped.
Led by a menacing low-end piano line, "Scrilla" was, according to Wara himself, "inspired by N*E*R*D's ‘Rockstar,’ off the In Search Of… album, which is probably my favorite album." But unlike Pharrell and Co.'s jacked-up tempos and nu-jazz influences, "Scrilla" keeps it slow, dirty and ferocious.
Hit Scrilla with a follow on Twitter @warafromthenbhd, and stay tuned for Kidnapped.
Quotable Lyrics:
In broad day, niggas grab Ks and start to spray away
Yellin' out ain't nothin' free, but you can layaway
Nigga I'm hurtin' right now, and you forgot to pay
Even though talk is cheap, any last words to say?
