"I fucking hate my label," Waka Flocka tweeted last October. Two weeks later, he posted the Atlantic Records' phone line and asked fans to call the number and demand his release from his contract. Six weeks after that, he tweeted, "I just wanna say FUCK my major label #AtlanticRecords. Fucking selling dreams.”
A year later, Flocka has finally gotten his wish. He is now an independent artist.
He shared the news Wednesday evening via Twitter. “I’m officially a free agent,” he wrote. "No label! I wanna personally thank every fan that called my old label.”
By now a well-established artist, Flocka has both the cache and connections to continue a prosperous musical journey. The next couple years will be an exciting chapter in his career.
