Whether its the unique, socially conscious subject matter he spits about, his affection for EDM or something as surface-level as his blonde hair, Vic Mensa is always finding ways to buck conventions. His latest exploratory effort finds him singing over lush, baroque production on Michael Uzowuru's new EP, Pink Orchids.
Uzowuru, a former Odd Future collaborator who previously produced "Major Pain" for Mensa, supplies the MC with thick bass licks, a congo-led beat and, funnily enough, actual wave sounds on "Waves." Opting to switch up his formula yet again, Mensa sings throughout most of the track, making this a very tranquil song indeed.

Quotable Lyrics:
Life goes around, never know when you might lose it in a moment
Motive lost no more, I'm found, foundation in the basement
I started from the bottom with a bottle and a scheme
Saw you seen inside my Visine, eyes drownin' in the drink
