Aside from Macklemore (and Sir Mix-a-Lot, for all you '90s kids), Washington State isn't really known for its hip-hop. Enter ILLFIGHTYOU, a three-member crew from Tacoma who make gritty music and count Ugly Frank as a member. The trio released their debut tape about a year ago, and now Frank is stepping out on his own with the Bobby Hill EP.
With sounds that range from G-funk (on "90") to jerky, dance-influenced bounce (on "LEFT OVA"), this EP makes a promising case for Ugly Frank's rising stock. Above all, a hazy, stoned-out vibe pervades all of the songs on the tape, making it decidedly West Coast in nature.
