2016 was supposed to be a big year for Lupe Fiasco. In April, the Chicago veteran announced his intentions to release three albums within the calendar year: DROGAS, DROGAS light*, and SKULLS. It appears that he won't be releasing any of these albums between now and January. On Sunday, he took to Twitter to let fans that know that he will likely wait until 2017 and beyond to release new music.
"It's a strong chance you wont get any new Lupe albums this year," he wrote. "Sorry y'all. I tried 2 make it happen but best laid plans make a mess made."
Lupe went on to clarify that two of the albums are fully recorded and currently awaiting sample clearances and finished mixdowns. While it is reassuring to hear that these albums actually exist, it won't come as much solace to Lupe fans.
