Zach Fernandez, the noble jokester known as "Jesus Hands," turned himself in to the LAPD on Monday for orchestrating the best prank of 2017. On New Year's Day, he somehow threw up massive tarps behind the "Hollywood" sign to have it read "Hollyweed." The stunt -- seen around L.A. -- was was intended to celebrate California legalizing the recreational use of marijuana.
While impressive by any standard, it was only a matter of time until Fernandez faced the legal consequences for altering the appearance of the landmark. It was rumored that Jesus Hands was responsible for the prank earlier this month, and indeed, he showed up at the Hollywood LAPD station yesterday with his attorney. He was immediately arrested for misdemeanor trespassing and then released upon posting $1,000 bond. Below is a pic of JH with the ticket handed to him by the LAPD.
Was the crime worth the punishment? On behalf of 4/20 enthusiasts everywhere, we say yes indeed.
