PREMIERE! Minnesota's Taylor J drops a cold one, "HighLight," off his upcoming "The 91 Family" project with Lex Luger.

It was a quiet summer for Twin Cities emcee Taylor J, though it turns out he's been locked down in the lab with all-star producer Lex Luger, prepping what looks to be the biggest project of his career: a joint tape called The 91 Family. Today, Taylor has shared the first single off The 91 Family, entitled "HighLight." "I had to do this shit to get my mind right," he raps, going on to describe the limelight around him while reflecting on the struggle it took for him to get to this point. He's focused, knowing how to move forward, though he's not the trusting person used to be, which one can hear in his unforgiving raps.

Luger matches the song's chilled-but-mean energy as well as Taylor's frigid Minnesotan climate with an instrumental that meshes an eerie ambient melody with hard trap drums that sound more alive than the standard 808s. His pairing with Taylor is unexpected, but upon hearing "HighLight," it makes perfect sense. Read our Behind The Beat profile of Luger here, and stay on the lookout for The 91 Family
