SZA fans didn't have a great 2016. Though it seemed clear from TDE's 2016 release schedule that the singer would be dropping her debut album within the calendar year, she ended up being the only member of the roster (outside of Jay Rock, who released an album in 2015) not to release a project last year. In fact, even the still-unnamed "John Doe 2" from the drawing board released a project, despite the artists' identity not being revealed yet.
Given all that, it's not surprising that SZA was so frustrated that she threatened to quit music earlier this year. However, it appears she's smoothed things over with TDE, as CEO Anthony Tiffith made it very clear he intends to get the singer's project out in 2017, sharing an Instagram video of himself readying the 2017 schedule and captioning it; "@sza are u ready 2 get them off my head?"
While SZA herself has not commented on when her album will arrive, she did retweets Tiffith's promise of "More albums in 2017." Let's hope it's sooner than later.
