Westside Gunn has emerged as one of New York's most promising up-and-coming emcees. His cinematic soundscapes and eye for street-level detail have earned him comparisons to certain Wu-Tang members, but his imagination is all his own. And that's partly because he doesn't hail from one of the five boroughs, but, instead, from Buffalo, which Gunn paints as a fearsome (and freezing) place. Gunn now resides in Atlanta, and living in the industry hub has helped him make astute observations on the state of the rap game.
Today, Westside Gunn has released his debut album, FLYGOD. The 18-track LP boasts features from Danny Brown, Action Bronson, Roc Marciano, Conway, and more. The production is similarly impressive, with instrumentals courtesy of Alchemist, Statik Selektah, and Apollo Brown.
