The New Orleans duo known as the $UICIDEBOY$ are as dark and reckless as their name would suggest. Heavy and abrasive, yes, but their sound is also a wicked good time, much in the spirit of Mystic Stylez-era Three 6 Mafia. And they don't only thrive in moments of all-out rage; the rest of their work has a chilling quality due to the fusion of ghostly ambient melodies and trap-inspired percussion. Their movement has been embraced by the young South Florida rap scene, which also possesses a new-age Southern gothic aesthetic. After last month's "ULTIMATE $UICIDE," a raucous collab with Denzel Curry, the $UICIDEBOY$ have now shared their most anticipated project to date: ETERNAL GREY.
The 14-track album comes with a few exciting features, including Pouya ("BREAKDALAW2K16") and Yung Simmie ("275 $UICIDE"), two more of Floridians with serious movements behind them. New Jersey rapper Da$h guests on the track "UGLIER." Stream ETERNAL GREY below, via G59 Records.
