The Bay Area rap scene is self-contained, with a well-defined sound and formula -- which bumps, but you don't always see rappers there coming up with a unique sound. If there's a Bay rapper right now who is poised to break out of the provincial bubble, it's 20-year-old Nef the Pharaoh, who hails from E-40's hometown of Vallejo and channels the spirit of Mac Dre and infuses his Bay bangers with a distinctive southern flavor into his music.
Nef has been dropping quality cuts ever since his breakout hit "Big Tymin" and the ensuing remix with Ty Dolla $ign and YG, and at last he has decided to share his debut, self-titled EP.
Nef is the Bay's next up. Stream Nef the Pharaoh EP below.
