"She's one of my favorite voices," says Diplo.

You've already heard Starrah contribute to many hits with her pen ("Pick Up The Phone," "Fake Love," etc.), but you'll be hearing a lot more of her voice in the near future. In a new interview with Diplo for Beats 1 Radio, the Major Lazer producer revealed that not only have the two been working together regularly, they'll be releasing a joint project.

"I did a whole EP with Starrah. It's coming out on Mad Decent. I'm really happy with it," he told Zane Lowe. "She's one of my favorite voices. Did like 5-6 songs with her."

Major Lazer's new single "Know No Better" with Travis Scott, Quavo, and Camila Cabello was also a collaboration with Starrah, Diplo explained. "I had written the record with Starrah, and I was like 'yo this is perfect for Travis,'" he said. "Originally it was a trap beat. We were at Coachella last year, we just wrote the piano line. It was a hip-hop record. I wrote a lot of stuff like that with Starrah. Me and King Henry wrote the beat. We wrote a trap song."

Gradually, the song was pushed in a more dance-oriented direction. "Starrah just kills those [trap] records. Records like "Needed Me" or "Pick Up The Phone." She just had a great verse on it. I was like 'this is great but there are so many trap records. how do we make something bigger?' So we always con Starrah into making house records now."

Considering the Starrah and Diplo EP is released before anything else from the songwriter, it will be her first official project. In March, Starrah released the video for her "Rush" single. She has since cowritten songs like Nicki Minaj's "No Frauds" and Katy Perry's "Swish Swish."
