While auto-tune is more prominent than ever these days, rappers are hardly using it the same way. Soulja Boy is an artist who has drenched his vocals countless times, but often taking different approaches to pitch correction. There was the sugary melodicism of "Zan With That Lean", which gave way to some more spacey balladry, such as "Big Bank Rolls". On "Ultra" it's something else entirely, with Soulja belting out his lines like Future in "Bugatti" mode, almost pushing his voice against the effect rather than using it as a crutch.
Soulja's upcoming mixtape, Young Millionaire is due out October 31st.
Quotable Lyrics:
I be killin' niggas just like I kill a beat
I be in that 'rarri, you can see me in the streets
Pussy nigga say he wanna fight, than he defeat
I ain't ever run away from no beat
