Vancouver's SonReal has released his One Long Dream project. The singer and rapperis known for his pop-influenced take on rap, which can range from the acoustic guitar-driven "Problems" to the playful, D.R.A.M.-reminiscent sing-rap of "Who Care." The project features only one guest appearance in Sid Siriam, but he shows up twice,book-ending the album with his features. Producers on the project include Rahki (known for his work with Kendrick Lamar, Syd, and Mac Miller), Alex Lustig, and the legendary DJ Khalil.
SonReal recently spoke of fighting his battle with depression through music, and helping fans do the same. "They would say things like, 'Your music saved my life,' or, 'I was in a deep depression and it was [this song] that made me work through it,'" he told Billboard. "Last year I had a tough year. I lost my father, and I leaned on music to get through it. The world needs to hear that things aren’t perfect all the time, that everyone is human and goes through things all the time. At the end of the day, you aren’t alone."
One Long Dream is the 6th retail release from SonReal, who also has two mixtapes to his name.
