Shawn Harris is getting ready to release his full length project, LAFRÉ, later this year, and as a warm-up for the project, he's shared a few demo versions of the songs slated for the effort. "Year Of LAFRÉ" is among them, and off the bat, it sounds like something of an intro, with Harris delivering a confessional verse before the beat fades out, and another one enters, and introduces a braggier, catchier record.
If you've been following long enough, you'll know that Harris once went by Niko Lafre, and the song and the album title are a reference to his original name. So far, there's no release date for the project, but we'll keep you posted with any further updates.
Quotable Lyrics:
I grew up poor
Born to a family from a third world country
The only option my big brother had
Was serve the junkies
Reminiscing us at trial before he got deported
Now I'm the last that momma got
But got her in a fortress
